Best Cheap TV Streaming hardware

I have 2 Apple TVs which are used extensively, One is 4K, the other is HD.

I’m looking for a third streaming “puck” for to watching things from Plex. Ideally it’d be an Apple TV because, y’know privacy, but unfortunately I don’t want to sink money at this point into Apple’s old hardware.

So I will wait until the iPhone event in September to see if a new one is released, if it is, all will be cascaded with the oldesn (HD) ending up on my work desk, but if not I will buy a cheap streamer. The Fire TV is my obvious choice for cost reasons, but anyone else have recommendations? This will soley be used for Plex, no Netflix/Prime/Disney+

I did a quick search for “Roku Stick UK” and apparently they released some new inexpensive models recently.

Fire TV is cheap because Amazon is making it up on your data and upselling you on services. Not that Roku isn’t also selling your data, but it might be easier than Amazon to block their collection at the firewall.

People in the cordcutters Reddit and the Channels DVR forums seem impressed with the Onn 4K Pro, which runs Google’s TV software.

I’ve no personal experience with it, but the consensus seems to be that it’s on a par with Google’s $100 streamer for half the price.
