Hey MPU,

Does anyone have any tips on how to do better parent controls? My kids were issued Chromebooks by the school. Of course, MineCraft for Education is on there. It’s become a problem and it’s causing negative behaviors to arise and manifest (lying, not doing assignments, etc)

I tried to reach out to the school but because it’s classified as 'Education", they can’t do anything about it on the Google Admin side apparently. Initially I had purchased YT Premium to get rid of ads, but now again more negative behaviors arising.

Is there a way on Apple TV (or through Unifi system) to ban / limit apps during certain times? The Chromebooks are on an IOT network, and the Apple TVs are on the main house network for reference.

Which Unifi box do you have? The paid Cybersecurity add on allows filtering using Cloudflare but it may vary device to device.

You could also look at nextdns / controld (not foolproof).

We use a combination of supervision (devices can only be used when grown ups are around), DNS filtering & Unifi cybersecurity.

Apple need to improve what they offer!
