Eno shed further light on the composition of the sound on the BBC Radio 4 show The Museum of Curiosity , admitting that he created it using a Macintosh computer, stating “I wrote it on a Mac. I’ve never used a PC in my life; I don’t like them.” wikipedia

Many, MANY years ago (late 90s as best I can recall) a colleague and I used to listen to a streaming radio station called Wolf FM. This was amazing for us at the time, listening to a US-based radio station from New Zealand. At least until about 11am when for some reason the bandwidth suffered.

There was a stinger played on the station that we absolutely loved, so we emailed the station and were stunned when we got a reply including the sound as a WAV file. I’ve ensured that I have multiple copies of this file ever since.

Why do I mention this? It’s based on that Win95 sound, only much MUCH better. (Caution, contains slightly colourful language).
