Although the Series 10 watch includes water resistance and features to measure water temp, depth, etc., I guess it just couldn’t stand up to my abuse ![]()
Owned it about 14 months when all of a sudden it started losing battery life rapidly - like half the day and it would be at 0%. This happened for a few days, but then seemed to work again as normal for a week. Then one morning it wouldn’t power on. Eventually I got it to show the Apple logo, and a horizontal white line at the top of the display would flash but then it would repeat.
Scheduled a Genius Bar appointment at the local Apple Store. The tech hooked it up to a diagnostic and then just said they don’t repair Series 10 watches, they only replace, and this one is completely dead and out of warranty and since I don’t have AppleCare…tough beans. She offered a replacement for $300. I got mine at a steep discount so didn’t pay too much more than that. I told her I’d think about it and left.
I’ve now gone almost 2 weeks without the watch and have realized I simply didn’t use it enough. I have been wearing an Apple Watch continuously, taking it off only when I go to bed to sleep, since Series 3 came out. I would track my workouts via the fitness app religiously, but rarely looked at the data. It was sometimes useful for glancing at texts. I can see that I might miss it when at a business function and pulling out my phone to check things would be inappropriate, but during these two weeks I’ve come to the conclusion I just don’t really use the watch and am not going to buy a new one.
But now, sitting on my desk, is a “looks like new but is apparently worthless” watch in the box with charger. I tried one of the “sell us your apple hardware for cheap!” sites and it valued it at $0 lol. So I’m assuming it is a worthless paperweight but wanted to check here before I throw it out. Anyone have any ideas for a use for it?
