The only real feature I used Fantastical for was the Calendar Sets feature. When they went subscription, I couldn’t justify paying for that one feature.
With the new Widgets, the Apple Calendar widget allows you to select which calendars to show when you edit the widget. On my “work” screen, I show calendars/entries related to work obligations, on my “exam” screen just calendars related to my professional destination exam.
