I want to set up two “typical” weeks in a calendar app as templates, then when I’m planning my week drop in the appropriate week template and make any tweaks as needed. Are there any apps that offer this functionality? So far I have only found templates for individual events, (Fantastical).
Doing this in shortcuts seems possible… but tedious.
For example, the upcoming week we can call “Week A.” I want to add all Week A events to my calendar, then adjust time blocks for a couple of special things that are happening this week. Next week I want to do the same but for Week B, and it’ll take some tweaking because Easter is in there.
The days will probably still be actual days, not simply days of the week, so when I import they’ll be for the week of April 7 2025 or whatever, but maybe there’s a way around that, even if it’s just a giant copy/paste.
Now that’s a good idea, it might get me to move to Fantastical.
Does Fantastical let you create multiple events at once with the natural text input? If so I could just have a text file copy & paste it into the natural-language event creation.
It does. Fantastical got back to me; you have to use Create From Input instead. The screenshot works great.
You could have the shortcut ask for input each time, paste in, and then it would split and create events. Or have a pick list of different week patterns.
My “template” events are in a dedicated calendar, scheduled in 12/1999 and I copy paste them. It’s not fancy, but it’s easy and all contained in the calendar so it’s cross platform/app.
