Can my wallpaper "Auto update"?

I’d like to set my desktop wallpaper to some reference material that will change. Is there any way to do that so when I change the source file, the displayed wallpaper will change? It doesn’t work when I point it to a normal image and update it in Preview, which was my assumption, but I’m hoping someone has an idea?

If you make it the only pic in a folder and tell MacOS to use that folder for wallpaper, changing every few minutes, I think it will work.

I did write an AppleScript once to change the wallpaper and set it to run on a schedule. Maybe you could do something similar.

I’m using the folder method and it’s working okay, mostly.
