I store terabytes of working files on my NAS, and I’m often working on a folder several levels deep e.g. /really/long/path/you/don’t/want/to/have/to/click/to/get/to/again/my/index/finger/is/getting/tired/from/clicking/the/mouse/please/make/it/stop when I take a break, usually to wind down before going to sleep. I’ll likely have another finder window open to another network folder on another server that I’m transferring files from/to the NAS.
When I return to my Macbook and wake it from sleep, the Automounter utility does a good job of making sure the network shares are connected. It does a great job at doing that. No complaints.
BUT…finder doesn’t restore network drive subdirectories that I had open. I have to navigate to them again before I resume my work.
Is there a built-in setting or 3rd party application that can remember my place and reopen in finder when my computer wakes up? Unfortunately, the paths are not predictable, so I can’t link them or configure keyboard maestro to open them for me.
I guess I could try an “on sleep” trigger and see if I can capture open paths in Finder and then restore them. I haven’t checked to see if this is possible , but that is all I can think of at the moment.
Am I alone in this problem? If not, does someone have a vetted solution to Finder “forgetting” where I was when my system wakes?
