If my watch (10) is on then iPhone will NOT light up lock screen… just watch
someone said - If you wear paired watch then the notification will come on watch. If you remove your watch then you will get notification by wake phone screen.
Can we get Notifications to turn on - light up BOTH my iPhone screen and Apple watch at the same time?
I don’t believe you can, and tbh I think that this is by design and also is the right behaviour based on Apple’s implication that part of the reason for the watch is to lessen use of/distractions by your phone.
Treating Notifications (the reminder on the screen) differently from gaining your attention (Haptics or lighting up the screen)
The idea is to get your attention from the most prescient device, so if you have set it to notify on your watch (as well as your phone), there’s an expectation that this is where you would be most likely to want your attention to be grabbed, if you wanted your attention to be gained from the phone, you wouldn’t have extended the notification to your watch.
Notifications which get your attention on your watch are still in your Control Centre and on your lock screen, but it doesn’t buzz/light up.
The last thing I would want is the same notification happening on many different devices (Watch, iPhone, iPad, Mac) It’s just that the iPad and Mac aren’t connected to the Watch/Phone combo in the same way.
This has always bothered me. The iPad is kind of its own thing in Apple’s eyes. The battery widget on iPhone and iPad don’t show each others devices, you can’t manage your Apple Watch from an iPad, and yes my iPad sits in front of my Mac most days and I’m constantly dismissing duplicate calendar alerts on both.
I get they want it to be a distinct experience from Mac and mobile (iPhone) but some things could overlap a bit more IMO.
