Not sure if I should be concerned or not.
I’m thinking of installing CarPlay into my car in 2 weeks. I can buy OEM parts and I’m confident it’s not a big deal. However, this may be overthinking things but I’m wondering if I should wait to make sure the new version of CarPlay won’t muck things up and I’ve paid money and spent time with the install.
Does that even make sense to be concerned?
I’d still go for it, but I want some of the updates to CarPlay like widgets, better phone UI, the customization, being able to thumbs-up a message without messing around with voice responses. I haven’t put the 26 beta on my phone to experience the design issues that have some concerned.
I’d see how old the unit you’re looking at is (i.e. when it was released), but I’m using the built in one from 2019 with iOS26 and there have been no issues.
I use a carlinkit and it’s not working on iOS 26 so far. Have contacted the manufacturer but haven’t heard anything back.
