Anyone have issues pairing a new iPhone 17 (Pro Max in my case) to CarPlay?
I have an iPhone 15 and an iPhone 16 Pro Max both running iOS 26 that work fine but a new iPhone 17 pops up a couple ToS type prompts but then doesn’t connect. I do see an “Apple device” (or similar) entry in the car’s settings but the others have “iPhone 15/16”.
The card is a Ford running SYNC-3 IIRC. I did check for software updates but nothing as yet.
Wondering if it’s just a case that Ford hasn’t pushed out new device info but wanted to check with others.
I was able to connect a 17 Pro to CarPlay successfully (first try). It wasn’t a Ford, though.
Sometimes CarPlay can be really wonky on setup though - maybe rebooting both the car UI and the phone and re- trying a couple of times will help?
The issue has been resolved by replacing the cable.
The car only has USB-A ports so I have been using a coiled USB-A to USB-C cable without issue across several older phone models but apparently does not work on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
I tried an official Apple USB-C cable (the one that came with the phone) with a generic USB-C to USB-A adapter and the phone connected right away.
Now to see if I can find a brand of A-to-C coiled cable that works with the 17.
