Hey gang. Long time lurker (and MPU listener). I bought the Robot Field Guide and am working my way through it as time permits. Just got to the stage where we set up a separate vault in Obsidian, and I am like “uh oh” — as I have been playing with cowork on my own for awhile now, I have many ad hoc cowork projects pointed at various folders inside a different folder, not linked to Obsidian at all (just a “Claude” folder inside icloud>Documents.
So…. I am struggling with the friction here. Do I need to move all my existing Claude projects? Re-configure Claude? Suggestions? Just accept I have my “before” projects in one spot and “after projects” in the new, permanent spot?
I’m sure you’ll get lots of good guidance from others here. My suggestion: have a conversation with Claude about it too. Explain where you’re at and ask Claude to walk you through the decision process. Don’t just ask for the answer: have Claude work with you on the pros and cons of various alternatives. Where you work with your day-to-day Admin Robot Assistant my be different from where you work with, say, your Research Robot Assistant or your Financial Management Robot Assistant.
That’s simple enough, just move the folder and next time you start a session, choose the new folder. If there’s any absolute file paths in your claude/skills/memory.md within that folder, just give Claude the new path and ask it to change them.
