I like Paste on the Mac, but its synchronization with IOS is very bad. Any recommendations for a clipboard manager that works across OS and IOS?
I’m watching this along with you. Like you, I love paste on macOS but it never seems to have what I need on iPadOS.
I love Paste, but 40$ cad/year for a clipboard manager seems a bit too much IMO. There was a clipboard manager roundup on MPU, but its a couple of years old.
I suspect a very high percentage of Paste users are SetApp subscribers.
I like Copy 'Em and PastePal. Both sync with iPhone and iPad, though I can’t vouch for their reliability, because hat capability is not important to me so I don’t track failure rates.
I’m currently leaning toward PastePal, because I like the Mac app and also because it supports Universal Clipboard, which means if I want to have it running in the background on the iPad I can simply open it on the iPhone and keep PastePal in front after putting the iPhone aside. A simple workaround the iOS/iPadOS’s lack of support for clipboard managers running in the background.
Agreed. I used Paste a decade ago before Setapp was a thing, and Paste wasn’t hideously expensive. It might have been a one time purchase in the App Store? After I’d been using Setapp for a while I started to notice people complaining about Paste - turns out the price had risen to a point where I wouldn’t have personally touched it if I’d seen the listed price.
PastePal also does the Picture in Picture trick on the iPad, where you go into settings and there’s an option to play a video, which runs in the background, even off screen except for a little indicator arrow. You can create a Shortcut to trigger this, too. When the “video” plays, it is considered to be active and captures anything you copy.
Maccy, Alfred, BetterTouchTool
Don’t all your suggestions only work on macOS?
If not, how do you make them work on/with iOS/iPadOS?
There’s a lot of content in this thread about using (several of) them on iPadOS as well. The built in support for them is quite poor but there are some tricks developers can try to improve functionality.
Thank you for sharing. I replaced Paste with Alfred, but it’s a bit too basic for my needs. I downloaded Maccy and it might just do the trick.
If you’re already using Raycast, their clipboard is good on Mac. However, they are currently missing any sort of iOS compatibility. With saying that, there are links to sign up for their wait list for iOS. Hopefully they will have thought ahead and these will sync across!
