Hi
Elon is right. Sorry!
Googleās technology will be running solely on-device or in Appleās cloud, maintaining Appleās privacy. I just consider Elonās comment to be sour grapes for Apple not using Grok.
I know we are not supposed to be political, but Elon Musk, given what he did at the start of 2025, embodied everything wrong with āunreasonable concentration of powerā, he is the last person to try and make this point.
I donāt agree. If this is as private as itās supposed to be, money and prestige aside, Google gets nothing else out of it.
Perhaps Musk should have asked Grok to review his grammar before posting.
Oh! Maybe he did?
Perhaps try Siri/GoogleAI instead.
Iāll be curious next year whether this predication on a āseems likeā opinion was truly prescient or simply somewhat confused.

Elon is a moron. If heās having a whinge, it must be a good thing.
Google can get money out of it. They paid billions to Apple for search defaults, maybe now apple will pay them billions for AI tech.
I said theyād get paid.
This from the guy who has 50 companies and just moves assets around as it pleases him!
Iām sure anyone who wants to use Grok on iOS will still be able to do so. The bigger problem for Elon is - unless youāre into ānudificationā - why would you?
A billion dollars a year doesnāt count?
I literally said Money aside in the bit you quoted.
I absolutely do think Googleās dominance is a big problem ā and this deal makes it worse.
But Elonās comments here are 100% self-serving, and I donāt believe he has much care for the health of the web and a competitive environment in tech (for anyone but himself).
These tools are for consumers. Apple will be using some of Googleās models as a basis for the apps they will build on top of some variation of Geminiās models (nano?) that will run on apple devices and Apple PCC. AFAIK Samsung is using regular Gemini that runs on device and on Google cloud.
Just about everyone else that is working on AI today uses the transformer technology developed by Google in 2007.
OpenAI. The GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) series, including the models powering ChatGPT and GPT-4, are all transformer-based.
Google DeepMind BERT, PaLM, and the current Gemini family of models
use the transformer architecture.
Anthropic. Their Claude models (Claude 3, Claude 4, etc.) are built on transformer foundations.
Meta AI. The LLaMA series of open-source models utilize the transformer architecture.
Microsoft Products, like GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot rely on transformer-based models developed in partnership with OpenAI.
Cohere. This startup, co-founded by one of the original transformer paperās authors, builds its language systems using transformer technology.
Even Grok 3 and Grok 4 are built on a transformer-based architecture
