This morning I pressed some incorrect key command and all my desktop icons rearranged themselves. If I recall, there is some script or app that can memorize the icon locations and relocate them if needed.

Does anyone know of what I’m thinking of?

If you right click and select “Sort by” None does it fix it?

I use an app called DIM for this.

I started using it as I share a monitor with my work computer, and the icons would reposition themselves when the number of monitors connected to my Mac changed. DIM allows me to restore order.
