I wonder what software Apple devs and executives use in their personal lives?
DEVONThink appears to be making smart steps with their LLM integration. I wouldn’t want their hands to be on the software direct, but I wonder if anyone at Apple uses DEVONThink and how wise it would be for the company to equip Apple Intelligence to accommodate for software like DEVONThink and its capabilities.
Can somone do a TL;DR on the LLM and/or AI features DevonThink has added?

Essentially, interfaces to a number of services, such as ChatGPT, Claude etc, so you can apply AI prompts to your DT database(s). Also options to create your own, local LLMs rather than using external ones.

The link provided in the OP gives a brief, concise overview of AI additions in version 4 and 4.1.
The feature I use most often is selecting text in a document (usually a PDF I’m reading) and using a local model that I found, nemotron-mini, to summarize it. Local models may take some time to return responses depending on the particular model and your machines constraints. But they’re neat to try out and free.

I have to admit I’ve been ignoring all the apps that have added AI workflows and concentrating my AI tools on using AI standalone.
e.g. For the various image generation/manipulation I do, I see little utility to going into a specific app, accessing the image, then using the manipulation or tools presented by the app versus just going directly to the tool or tools and opening my existing image/photo to work on it.
For text, I tend to do a lot of back-and-forth with ChatGPT and a lot of throw-away or branch-back-and-do-again type exploring. So far, it has been easier to do that directly in ChatGPT and just cut/paste the final results into my existing workflow tools.
I’m open to thinking about this in a different way. Since DT is my organizational/search tool of choice, examples of better workflow suggestions are welcome.
Maybe time for MacSparky to update the DT guide or do a lab video or two on this?

The AI section on the DEVONTechnologies forum appears to be troubleshooting orientated, but I found this thread to be an example of the extent that users can go with AI integrations.

MCP support unlocks a lot of amazing features when you combine different tools and throw DT in the mix. But is also more advanced and can be confusing for some users (as shown in the DT forum)
It would be very cool to have a proper MCP implemention built-in in DT!
