Immediately crashes when I try to register my device. So canât use it at all.
Given it a very quick once over on my iPhone - seems quick and responsive so far. As soon as I set a couple of databases to download documents Always as opposed to On Demand, it didnât take long for them to come down and itâs very snappy opening.
So far, seems better than DTTG3 but will put through itâs paces over next couple of weeks.
Iâve got the registration crash as well, but thisâll be a nice update once thatâs sorted. The Face ID enable bug is gone!
The crash in the registration never occurred during our testing and hasnât affected everyone so it came as quite a surprise to us as well this morning. We have a hotfix release uploaded and are awaiting Appleâs review. Our apologies for the trouble.

Anyone know if it handles RSS updating yet? I continue to dream of DT downloading my RSS feed items as PDFs on both Mac and iOS!
No, it doesnât. On the endless list.
I checked for the update and received it a couple of minutes ago. The registration process is now working as expected, no crash.
First impression, look and feel much has been much more improved!
4.0.1 fixed mine as well.
No crash here anymore with 4.01 as well.
4.0.2 works for me, and they were good at communicating that a fix was coming to be fair.
The first thing that happened when I set up sync was that a bunch of documents from 2021 & 22 appeared! Which was weird. None of these are in my full database, so they must have been added to mobile and then just disappeared into the syncing void. Why? No idea.
I spent about 20 minutes trying to sync these files but they would not appear on my desktop. However newly added files would sync, just not these old ones. Strange. Since these are obviously not mission critical files, I just deleted them. All files created before and since seem ok. Tried adding stuff from Safari, Drafts and Reeder. All fine,
Downloading the other databases went quickly.
Layout is nice. Menuing and the like all seem logical. I havenât used DT3 for some time, so I canât speak to how the last revisions of that app were, but stuff is where I expect it to be.
The Read Later function syncs ok. I have a memory that this wasnât synced in 3? though maybe my memory is at fault.
Converting a webpage to markdown had typically excellent results. Very handy given how much reading I do on mobile.
The Longpress icon â Chat feature is pretty great, since you can instruct the AI to create a document based on your instruction, which appears as a markdown file in your inbox. I find this helpful when Iâm in things like conferences and have tangential questions that occur to me and want to give myself a primer on something quickly. I use Drafts for this at the mo, but this might be more useful for that, since its tagged and in my reference system immediately.
AI Chat Summarisation of PDFs is helpful. It would be nice if it synced the custom summarisation query across DT and DTTG, but its not hard to copy and paste manually, and I guess others might want different queries on desktop and mobile.
On the downside, AI Chat isnât working with any Word Docs. I can open and view the files, but the Chat dropdown options are all greyed out, and asking anything in the pop up Chat Windows just says âIâm unable to retrieve the contents of the selected itemâ. This happens with every Word Doc I try. PDFs work normally. It can manually search the contents of Word Docs, so theyâre obviously functioning files. Dunno whatâs up there.
Using the AI search assistant flat out doesnât work, I just get a blank screen every time.
Overall, a much improved app, with just a few more niggles. My main desired use for the mobile app was always a global inbox, so if the sync is more robust (which, that weird problem notwithstanding, it seems to be) then Iâll be happy.
Thanks for the overview and comments. Theyâre very appreciated.
- What AI provider and model are you using?
- What is your Search assistant prompt?
Using Claude Haiku 4.5. I tried a few variations on âFind files with the word cancer in the nameâ.
So Iâm being slightly dense in that I realised that the blank screen is in fact just the search page with no results in it. The AI just isnât putting anything in the box. Manually searching works fine.
It continues to show no results most of the time, but on one occasion it did return âname:cancerâ. Then I immediately tried âFind files with the word HIV in the nameâ and it inserted just the word âFindâ with no other search parameters.
Now itâs back to doing nothing, see attached. Chat continues to work in other places.

You need to press Return or the â key to generate the search syntaxâŚ

Then press the Use button.
Ok I see the rationale. I feel like itâd be helpful if the Use key were greyed out until the query were generated, since thereâs nothing to use til then. But now itâs pointed out I know what to do.
Any idea why Word docs arenât working with chat?
Likely since itâs a QuickLook viewed item, not native to our app.
Not sure I follow. Iâm in DTTG looking at the document and pressing the chat button and get the following. Is this using quicklook?
