Asking Siri to remind me later about things I’m looking now at is one of my favorite features. It was broken for a while and then it got fixed. Yay! But now that I’ve updated my iPhone and two iPads to ios18 I have a new problem. I’m a heavy Craft user, but their task management doesn’t work well for me. I made heavy use of the “remind me about this at X time in the future” and the link to the Craft page would show up in my reminders. One click from reminders would take me back to the Craft page with all the context for that task. It works great.
I noticed today that Apple Intelligence seems to have broken this feature however. When I ask from my iPhone 14 (non-Apple Intelligence device) it works as expected. But on my newer iPads with apple intelligence it sends it out to chatgbt and then when it comes back the link is broken.
Is there a workaround? Is there a way to “remind me about [thing I’m looking at]” without invoking Siri at all?
I live in the EU, so we don’t have Apple Intelligence on iOS yet, but on macOS if you say “remind me about this”, then it works.
If you say “remind me about this in 20 minutes” it wants to send the current app’s screenshot to ChatGPT.
There is a workaround though. If you just say “remind me about this”, it will create the reminder, and you can say “change due date to 20 minutes from now” as a follow-up which will update the reminder’s date.
By the way, on iOS you can select any text in Craft, choose Share from the popup menu (where you have Copy, Cut etc) and pick Reminders. It will attach the Craft document to the reminder the same way as Siri.
This “text selection” trick works in a bunch of apps like Mail, Calendar, Notes, even in Reminders if you want to link to another list.
I wrote about this in the “Linking external assets” section in my Reminders for GTD post.
This is fantastic. Thank you. I didn’t realize the power under that “share” popup menu. This is working on both apple intelligence and older iOS devices!
Right now, both are working, but this feature tends to be finicky so I will remember the “remind me about this” the next time it’s not working! Thanks so much!!
