Different Wallpaper for Different Desktops?

Is it possible to create different wallpapers for each desktop on the Mac? To minimize visual distraction, I want a muted color desktop dedicated to long-form writing.

I can’t find a way to have different wallpapers for each desktop. Can this be done?

Yes. Go to System Settings and then select Wallpaper.

At the top the is a setting labeled “Show on all Spaces”, set this to off.

Then click on the monitor and select the wallpaper you wish to use. Be sure to navigate to the space you wish to change prior to selecting the wallpaper.

Thank you, that’s it! I missed that setting, “Show on all Spaces.” I need to pay closer attention! :grinning:

Thanks again.

@Bmosbacker, I don’t see a setting like that on my MacBook Air running Ventura. So, if it is a new setting in Sonoma, you can perhaps feel better not having known about it.

Yep. Ventura was different, and easier.

I had to figure it out because I knew the pre-Sonoma way, and thought maybe the option had gone away.

I do feel better, thanks. But, I still should have seen it. I think we are so flooded with information that we skim too quickly, at least I do. It is a bad habit I need to break.
