My church hung a TV in the lobby and would like to have it scroll through a small set of jpegs on Sunday morning.
Does anyone have experience with a hardware/software solution that does not involve monthly costs? The ideal solution is a cheap hardware device with the ability to swap files remotely.
There’s some options I can find, but it’s hard to know if they are legit.
We do this at our church with an Apple TV and a shared Photos album. Several people can edit the album and then on Sundays we just hit play and it rotates the images (announcements).
If the TV isn’t too high to be easily accessible, I’d check what features it has built-in - it might be able to play a looping slideshow from files on an attached USB flash drive. Otherwise I would use a Raspberry Pi, but that’s not exactly plug’n’play. Here’ssomeopensource options that turned up in a search.
Thanks. I did already try the built in USB port but the TV did not like the images for some reason. They were JPEGs, but perhaps they were too big or not the right something. I don’t know but it didn’t work. It acted like it was going to display them, but just hung up and eventually spit out a meaningless error.
