(How) Can I disable automatic updates for a single App on iOS/iPadOS?

Reason for asking: my (1 year) license for Proxyman recently expired. The developer claims he uses an Agenda-like model where you keep the functionality you paid for (you just don’t get future updates), but does not have implemented anything to enforce that (the App Working Copy does this right, so it can be done - even on iOS/iPadOS). Instead, he instructs me to no longer update Proxyman on iOS/iPadOS, because as soon as I update it, it will check the license and remove all paid functionality…
