Disk Inventory X resurrected as "Xs" modernization and "Y" rewrite

It appears someone has endeavored to resurrect Disk Inventory X. They have two versions on Github, one (“Disk Inventory Xs”) modernizing the existing code to run on Apple Silicon systems and the other ("Disk Inventory Y") a more complete rewrite attempt in Swift.

Has anyone tried either version? It looks likely that the author heavily leveraged Claude Code to accomplish the feat (Claude is listed as a contributor). I think that’s a great use of the technology, but it probably also makes it easy to dive in and make a bunch of changes really quickly and then get bored just as quickly. I hope that isn’t the case here, but the latest Xs release was 5 months ago and the latest (and only) Y release 9 months ago, so I’m worried.

A truly and robustly modernized DIX would be spectacular, though, so maybe somebody here with serious coding chops and a love for timeless macOS applications could fork those and keep the flame alive.

I use https://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net and very happy with it.

I am old enough to remember SourceForge. GitHub didn’t exist back then

I just tried Xs and its UI is buggy. There is also a Disk Inventory Z which uses modern UI controls https://github.com/danifunker/disk-inventory-z/releases. It seems to work great. I haven’t tried Y because I would avoid a total rewrite.

I hadn’t realized that X is Intel code, so nice to see people picking up the torch. X is my favorite mapper.
