I was one of those hesitating to switch to ScanSnap Home - because of the license and other issues. I got myself a shiny new Mac mini M4 Pro a few days ago and today we of course have passed October 31st, 2024.
I do have a backup of ScanSnap Manager, but I decided to give ScanSnap Home a try again. I am sold. The license issues are a thing of the past - as we all know - and the software just works (for me). The feature to name the file name generated from information gathered while scanning works surprisingly well. The scan quality is good. The menubar item is nice. What I am trying to say: if you still are using ScanSnap Manager, give ScanSnap Home a try. It has had a very bad start, but it has changed to the better. 
I will not install ScanSnap Manager on my Macs any more.
