Over the last several years I’ve spent too much time and too much money trying to find a wallet that would meet my needs. My needs are not particularly complex, but I need to carry five to seven cards or IDs and a little cash. I want the wallet to feel comfortable and unobtrusive in my front pocket, particularly if I also have to slide my phone into that same pocket. I recently purchased the Ridge wallet. It is overpriced, but I must say I really like it. It meets all of my needs and is extremely comfortable and will last for years. I’m posting this in the event that someone else is also looking for a new wallet.
I’m on my second Flipside wallet after the first broke after many years. Tried a couple after the first one broke, but ended up buying another.
I always take the suggestions of bright people. ![]()
I recently returned to using my ridge wallet. The problems that I had with it were my building access badge and showing my drivers license.
It doesn’t have a transparent side to show a drivers license through, and the rfid blocking prevents my access badge from working.
I solved both problems by putting those card in the money strap that goes on one side of the wallet. Now my badge scans and I can quickly remove my driver’s license when necessary.
I wear my security access badge on my belt, so that is a problem I’ve been able to avoid. ![]()
If I bought that wallet, I’d have no money left to put in it
. Looks nice though.
Did you get the model with the cash strap or the one with the cash clip. And why your choice?
In my estimation, it is way over priced. I suspect the margin is very high. But, assuming I don’t lose it, I figure this is the last wallet I’ll ever need to buy. It is small, lightweight, made of carbon fiber, and carries the essentials I need. While I like the looks and feel of real leather (I have several very nice leather wallets), they are relatively heavy and bulky.
I purchased the version with the cash strap rather than the clip. It is ever so slightly thinner, and I have a carbon fiber money clip if I decide to use that instead of holding cash on the Ridge. I cannot remember the last time I used cash, but I like to have a little with me in the event I find myself in a situation when the merchant’s registers are down and I must make a purchase, for example, at a gas station, to tip the valet.
I’ve always lusted for Ridge-type solutions to everyday carry. Small, front pocket size, reduced number of items. In 2018 I bought Waterfield Design’s Finn Wallet Compact (4.24 x 3 inches). It closes with a zipper, holds coins and keys in addition to cards, folded money, receipts. I got mine in gray-green oil cloth, now I see they offer only leather. I bought two for $45, my Costanza style husband never used his. Best wallet ever.
