I upgraded a Late-2013 iMac that I picked up second hand by using an external SSD as the main HD. Since it’s only 256GB and the original spinning HD is a 1TB drive, I setup my photo and iTunes libraries on the 1TB drive. However, Finder will not see the contents when I click music or photos. They only see the empty generic libraries that MacOS created on the SSD. Is there anyway to change that so that when I click Photos in finder I see my actual photos again?
If your music and photos libraries live on the 1TB HD… Hold the OPTION key down when opening iTunes/Music or Photos. This will allow you to select the correct Library to be accessed by the program. Your computer should remember this going forward.
