Since I’m not an expert in this field, I asked this to 4 LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Meta AI, Grok) and got 2 completely opposite answers…

In Disk Utility my external disks are composed of
WD Elements… > Container… > Volume 1, Volume 2, etc

  1. Should I run First Aid top to bottom or bottom to top?
  2. Do I need to run in on the individual volumes? When I run it on the container, it unmounts all volumes and it seems to check them, but I’m not sure?
