Hey everyone, I wanted to share an app I recently found which seems great. It’s native for the apple ecosystem, which means there’s no cross-platform, and it’s not subscription based.
The main difference I found regarding bike is that this one operates in a database, while with bike you can use multiple files, and of course it’s a subscription.

There’s also sync between reminders and calendar for task management.
It is nice, and I gave it a spin after reading this review of it. Had a back and fore with the dev via email on a couple of bugs etc. No AppleScript or Shortcuts support as yet, so not really for me. It’s nice to see a proper native app, nonetheless. TL;DR – think Workflowy, but in a self-contained app.
That’s exactly what I thought. Like Workflowy but self contained.
They certainly are. It was just an incidental acknowledgment of it being a new app that is keeping the native flag aloft, not specifically referencing the Outliner field, per se.
Just be aware that the free Zavala is macOS 26-only, whereas others mentioned in this thread (all paid) support at least the previous (macOS 15). Kosshi goes back to macOS 14 or later.
Kind of understandable that when an app is free, like Zavala, the dev just focuses on supporting the current OS codebase. Sindre Sorhus tends to do this with free apps, but makes older OS versions available on website. This doesn’t appear to be the case with Zavala as far as I can tell.
