I was so expecting to be able to use the the lasso tool to draw a circle around the text on a shape, click in the center of the circle and select group.
The way Apple had me do it involved a bunch of different hand clicks that made me have to put down the pencil every time I wanted to group something.
So not like Apple to not make it an easier to do the basics.
Any workarounds.
Can you press and hold with your finger (on iPad, probably with mouse on macOS) and then drag the box around it?
Not sure what to do if it doesn’t easily fit in a rectangle.
You can also hold down shift and tap on the items you want. I bet it works on macOS, too. Don’t know about iOS.
If you don’t have a keyboard attached to the iPad, you can press and hold the first shape and leave your finger there. Then with your other hand pick all the other items you want to be in the selection.
Highly probable I misunderstood something, but for me grouping on iPad works exactly like (1) choosing lasso tool, (2) selecting objects and (3) tapping the group option, all using Pencil. Maybe there is some app/system bug on your side?
