GoodLinks Capturing Links

Hi fellas, I just bought GoodLinks since y’all highly recommended it. Just started using it and noticed that the chrome extension requires you to login to your apple ID. I’m a bit cautious when logging in via my apple ID anywhere. Any way to capture links without logging into apple ID? I see Anybox which is another similar app doesn’t require logging into your apple account and uses some sort of automation.

Anything I can do?

GoodLinks should be available in the share sheet on the Mac; no extension is needed:

I had the same reluctance to provide my Apple login. You can instead simply use the default share sheet from Chrome. Just ensure that GoodLinks is enabled (MacOS extensions settings)

@dario @Darkwing this is awesome. thank you!

This is one of the beat features of Goodlinks over Anybox.

Once installed, click the GoodLinks button to sign in with your Apple ID. The extension runs completely client-side and communicates only with Apple’s iCloud to save your links. It does not collect or pass anything through our server.

I thought anybox used iCloud as well. What data are passed through anybox’s servers?

Anybox safari extension doesn’t work unless you have the app running which is not really helpful when you’re trying to save a link to sort later.

I’m testing out Anybox as well and curious how’d you land on GoodLinks. Anybox seems good too

At the risk of sounding incredibly stupid, I have no idea how to invoke the share sheet in chrome/ium (and I have tried). Could you explain, please?

Thanks

In Chrome and Edge, it’s in the File menu (File > Share). You can use custom keyboard shortcuts in macOS to create a shortcut for these.
