Google Gemini behaving badly

I saw the other day that Google has released a new Gemini app for the Mac and thought I would take a look.

It wasn’t in the App Store. Odd, but I found a download on Google’s own site.

Downloaded it and started it up. It immediately set itself up to auto-launch every time I log in. Notably, it did not ask permission to do so. Well, I didn’t want that so I revoked the privilege. I’m going to flush it now.

The next time I started it (and every time I start it) it does the same thing.

I think that qualifies as “behaving badly” and suspect this is why the app is not available from Apple App Store.

FYI everyone.

AFAIK, Google has never submitted an app to Apple’s Mac App Store.

Unfortunately, a lot of apps do this upon installation or an update, often the very ones that absolutely do not need to open at login. It’s easily fixable in settings, but it’s an annoyance to be sure.
