Got my new Cal Digit TS5 Plus and tore apart my whole setup today

The TS5 plus is a beautifully made device and just the excuse I needed to tear everything apart. As I added hardware I had a rat’s nest of wiring both power and USB. There were 5 hubs including the one built into the LG 5K display. Now I have only 2, the LG monitor and the TS5. On the wiring side I set up a big UPS with 9 outlet giant power strips screwed to the back of the desk, one UPS and one surge only. The Cal Digit, LG monitor 2 external hard drives are on the UPS. Living in Florida we have lots of power outages. The generator kicks in after a minute so the UPS only has to keep everything going until then. There is a separate UPS in the equipment closet, so the Internet generally stays up when the power is out. If it goes out I have a Verizon cellular modem as a backup. Here is what it all looks like.

The TS5 is hiding behind the water glass next to the Scansnap-that was awful dumb on my part.

Very exciting. As a fellow Floridian, I feel your pain about power outages. The UPS is an absolute must. I’m a bit jealous you have a generator that kicks in automatically. That’s an awesome setup to have.

That’s a nice setup.

Thanks. We’re enjoying a crazy thunderstorm right now. I bought the generator after I got tired of running outside in a hurricane to refuel the portable.
