Way back in this thread, I lamented that there wasn’t an easy way to download audiobook metadata from the web like there is in Calibre for ebooks or any number of apps for music files.
Well, today I learned that you can now add Audible as a tag source in Mp3Tag to fetch audiobook metadata from the web. It works well, and does much of what I need. I’ve had to set up an action group that automatically copies metadata from one tag field to another to get the exact results I want—e.g., using the “ALBUM” filed to populate the “TITLE” field—but with that tweak, it’s great.
If this is something you’d like to do, you can download the API you’ll need to load into Mp3Tag and get some basic instructions on how to configure your settings here.
(Note: Audible does not provide an official API for developer use, so I assume the app uses one of the open-source community work-arounds.)
