I hope you have a blast in Taipei. I did an internship there in 2015 and have very fond memories of the place. Hope you can also discover more of the island.

I was there in 2016 speaking at an education conference. I loved my time there as well.

Thanks, picked it out myself.

At first I thought that was an old picture from your flower power times with voluminous hair and vibrant colors

That certainly describes me.

We’ve got family here so I’ve been back plenty, and have been all over the island - many crazy stories. We even had a second wedding reception in Taipei for all the important people (a.k.a., school and business associates of the in-laws) who couldn’t come to the US. My joke for a while was that my kids had more frequent flier miles by age 10 then I did at age 30.

Sounds nice! Sadly, I did not visit a few things on the island I would like to see. Like the Sun-Moon-Lake and Jade Mountain. But I will do it at some point in the future. One of my dream trips would be a bicycle trip around the island.

I am in a bit similar situation with a Hunanese wife. We had a second ceremony due to the pandemic. We now explore China together bit by bit. Strangely enough she has visited more sights in Europe than me and I in turn have seen more of the Chinese sights.

A bike trip would be quite an undertaking. My wife ran a 50km marathon in the “mountains” south of New Taipei City, which I thought was crazy enough. But, I was there to support her, pretending to run while sporting my fresh “Harley Davidson of Taipei” shirt and ubiquitous Taiwan Beer.
