Hazel doesn't run rules autmaticaly

Set up a few new rules to watch a dropbox folder where I have my home depot receipts and some other stuff dropped into but Hazel will only process them if I force the run rules for that folder, all my others seem to run pretty much instantly as soon as the file hits the folder. Any ideas?

What are the requirements to run the rule? If you could share a screenshot we can help track it down!

Ok I’ll do that when I get home but I compared the rules to what I am using within other folders and they seem to be identical. My only thought possibly has to do with it being a shared Dropbox folder. ?

You can check the Hazel log to see if it’s giving any error messages around the rule, or why it didn’t fire. There’s a button to open the log in the Info tab of Hazel.

If you hold down the option button on that tab a “Debug Mode” checkbox will magically appear to record additional logging information.

Just to note that I have a Hazel rule that watches a Dropbox folder where receipts are dropped on other systems, and that works fine. So the issue is probably not with Dropbox.

Okay,
this is along shot…did you ever find out what happened?
The reason I am asking is that in some folders I would like to see exactly this behaviour. Apply the rules only when I trigger it…
Thanks

Hazel has a very active forum. Here is a post with a problem similar to yours. You may want to try the troubleshooting guide

I assume you’re getting “all greens” when you preview the rule with a test file? And it only runs when you force it to “run rules now”?

Hey
thanks for getting back. In fact, I am not having this issue, I just wanted to see if I can find out what was wrong and maybe use this to establish the behaviour I want in some cases.
Thanks
