I’ve been exploring the Menus on iPad apps and I’ve noticed that the help menu ends up sending you to the Tips app. It seems kind of strange that the help pages are in an app called tips. Looks like the content is the same as this User Guide website.
I think it’s a good idea to have all the Help pages in an app on your iPad, why not call it the Help app? I would never think to look for it in Tips.
I think it originated as an onboarding app for one of the new versions of iOS to help with discoverability of new features. so it was providing tips rather than help.
Does this happen only with Apple apps, or third party ones too?
I’ve played around with a 3rd party apps and it looks like it just provides a search for menu items. Which is also what the Apple apps provide. I assume you get this by default in an app if you don’t do anything. I have yet to find a 3rd party app that goes to a help page from the Help menu.
