I have a small aggrevation with Pages. When I open Pages it defaults to having the format panel open. I’d prefer to create a new document without the formating panel open. I have not seen a way to stop this behavior in preferences. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this? Clearly a “First World” problem 
but I’d like to eliminate that one extra click.

I don’t think it can be done. I even tried creating a template with the formatting panel closed. But documents opened from that template open… with the formatting panel open!
Good thing this is not a world-shaking issue.
