High Dynamic Range with External Monitor?

So I see that my cheapo Philips monitor supports High Dynamic Range (HDR).

Do you guys turn it on?

It looks quit different compares to when HDR is off.

I don’t mind HDR when watching movies or playing games but I don’t like that it made the desktop and application such as browser overly bright - it looked washed out.

Same feeling.

Seems overly bright when HDR is turned on for regular web browsing.

I was hoping that the OS is smart enough to turn it on depending on content, instead of just flipping the switch. Sigh.
