Hey Rob. I actually wrote the whole app with coding assistance from Claude. Believe me, I drove all of it via specific prompts, rules and conventions plus reviewed and iterated on everything Claude produced. If you’re worried, I suggest you look at my resumé and decide whether you think I know what I’m doing 
Happy to chat more about this if you want details; Claude Code is a pretty useful tool and I’d encourage any developer to get used to utilising it.

I’m no expert, but Claude has a specific UI “style” (by default) and this GUI seems to match that. It was close enough to make me want to check commits to see whether Claude was an “author” (and it is mentioned there).
I loved trying out new software, but that interest is almost gone due to AI.
Same is getting true for this forum with so many members claiming they wrote software, but it was actually AI that did it (based on the work of others, often without permission).
I understand I’m a minority in this and maybe I should just shut up or leave.

@graeme, I really like that you’re framing this around the result rather than the process, that feels like the right lens as these tools keep moving forward.
I also get why it’s a hard adjustment for some people here. If you spent years building real skill at something and a tool now gets most of the way there in an afternoon, that’s genuinely disorienting, and not something to wave away. But the tools aren’t slowing down for any of us, so at some point it stops being a question of whether to get on board and becomes a question of whether we do it on our own terms or get pulled along later anyway. I’d rather be steering.

Especially when you still have full access to see what it is doing and audit the result.
It frees up your time/creativity so you can go the next step and do even more.

It’s the first release so it still has a long way to go. Don’t be too harsh on it.
I have developed a GUI for homebrew also known as Taphouse. The free version should be more than enough and at this point it has tons of more features if you want to try it.
With that said, good to see them developing their own. This might lead to more features for Homebrew.

I don’t mind the homebrow UI, however it’s made. Any of the GUI options aren’t for me as it feels wrong to start letting my brew CLI muscle memory go. But it’s a big tent project; there should be multiple ways to interact with it.
7.0 itself has been a nice release so far. The speed is appreciated and I think they’ve found the right line with the security stance.

To be fair to @rob, the reasons for negativity are abundant. Sure, it’s transformational, but that doesn’t mean it’s without it’s (quite significant) drawbacks.
That was true for every transformational technology you can imagine in history - from fire to space travel and everything in between.
AI is not going away. Better to figure out how both individuals and society can make the benefit far exceed the harm.
It would be best to keep general discussion about AI pros/cons out of threads about specific software. We have the AI category for that and many existing discussions.
No problem talking about the quality, provenance, humans involved, etc. of particular apps as we’ve already done here, of course. (Welcome @graeme btw!)

Thank you so much for the tip. I tried out the app, and it looks very minimalist and nice. However, I prefer the CLI; the only feature I like is “trending apps.” I wasn’t familiar with that on the command line. How do I do that using the CLI?
I don’t think there’s a cli command for it. You could alias a curl to this endpoint and jq of the results.
