I’ve occasionally used EagleFilter to de-duplicate files.
'Normally EagleFiler will prevent you from importing a file if a file with the same contents (in the data fork) is already in the library."
There are a couple CLI utilities that are easier to remember than that find . ... string. rdfind is a good one (install with Homebrew); its syntax is just rdfind and the folder name, e.g. rdfind Downloads. It makes a results text file.
I used to use Gemini, then got lazy. I decided that given the good amount of free space, and the relatively low rate of decrease, I have on my Mac, there’s no benefit to spending time finding duplicates. So I spend an hour looking for dupes, and gain a gig of space. Whopee. I’d rather read a book.

Gemini 2, although its lack of dark mode is absolutely unforgivable and pathetic.
