Just throwing this out there, but Derrick Story had a recent podcast summarizing some of the new imaging features in Mojave and Apple Photos. Gallery View in the Finder now supports EXIF data, which is great if you use the Finder as your photo filing system.

How to use my SSDs for fast external photo library

It depends on which internal HDD his MBP has. If it’s ssd chanches are that is way faster of any external solution. If he has enough space on it he should be able to keep the LR catalog on the internal HDD and the files on the external one. It might even deepend on which version of LR he’s using (in the past few months Lightroom Classic CC has been optimized and is way faster than before, as far as i can tell). Another trick might be to use another external ssd as a repository for LR’s cache. …

Backup Photos App into file directory,

Thank you for your replies… I am verifying chronosync and the rsync … Will get back to you. The issue with rsync is that I want to move the pics with hazel to sort them by year month day bases on metadata and this will always update the original directories with all pictures since it will believe that there is nothing there… working on a way to flag the pictures also to not get them again and not copy the same pics over and over… Thank you Luis

Do your trust your Photos only in iCloud with no local copy/backup?

I cant quickly find the KB article. But I have run into this with a clients machine who has a very large Photos library on an external RAID. When I tried to setup iCloud photos there was a warning that this only works with a Photo’s library stored on a local drive.
