In the Hazel Filed Guide, what tool do you use to display the keystrokes? Is this only for use when creating a screencast?
I believe that feature is built-in to the screen-casting software, but I know at least one app that will do it separately is Mouseposé:

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a demo, and the app is $10 from the Mac App Store.
I’d be interested in seeing if there are other apps that do it too. If no one comes up with one here, it might be worth posting on http://apple.stackexchange.com to see if someone else knows of one.

Screencasting apps like Screenflow and Screenflick have that ability built-in.
There’s also a free app called Keycastr which will let you do this as well.

I do it built-in to Screenflow. Also, sometimes I will animate them in myself in Screenflow or final cut.
