This has to be the dumbest question… every time I try to add an image to a post I get this:
“[Uploading: IMG_8891.JPG…]”
…what is it doing?? The image doesn’t show up in the preview frame. These aren’t large images, I can’t imagine it would take very long to upload… does this apparent placeholder ever disappear or get replaced with the actual image? Last time I made this effort I came back to the thread days later and it still said uploading.
You should get the Uploading, then it should change to an image link preceeded by the file name and it’s dimensions and the picture should appear in the preview window.
Personally I just press Command-C in Finder and then Command-V here. I see text like placeholder such as “[Uploading: foobarbaz.jpg...], but I don’t see that “white squre with black border”.
Probably something with your cookies. Try to login in a private window (Shift-Command-N).
OK private browsing window, login… pic? →
[Uploading: IMG_8891b.jpg…]
I saw the “uploading” progress bar run through start to finish but still only seeing the placeholder and that white square/black border emoji in both the edit window as I’m typing, AND the preview window beside it. Still no pic displayed on submission, either.
If your Id has permissions to upload (and the permission to do this is granted automatically by Discourse after some time period or other rules which I don’t know details) it should work. I’m guessing if denied by Discourse, there would be a message. As the upload just does not seem to work, my hunch it is something to do with settings on your computer or app. What? Dunno. Perhaps try a different browser as a start. Turn off temporarily any security apps you have running.
