The other day over in the macOS subreddit I saw a reditter asking how to add a new keyboard layout for the International Phonetic Alphabet. I have the exact same requirement. (Want to add IPA to my vocabulary flash cards.) The response given is to copy a file to ~/Library/Keyboad Layouts
seemingly does not work; the relevant files (available from SIL) are dated from 2015 or so. SIL has tools to create new keyboard layout files but it is very unclear that these create a general solution rather than being specific to other SIL programs.
Has anyone here a working IPA layout for Sonoma or Sequoia that does not require YAPTI (Yet Another Program To be Installed) first? This really should be a simple activity. The reditter and me can’t be the only ones who struggle with this, can we?
