How to Sort Folders (not notes) in Apple Notes

I am new to Apple Notes. I would like to sort the folders and not finding any options. I did discover drag and drop which might be useful at times. With over 80 folders, I would like to be able to sort them alphabetically, creation date and maybe last date of a note being added. Thank you!

What say you Apple Notes gurus?

I am not a guru but I don’t think you can sort the folders. You can only move them into the desired order. “All iCloud” will always be at the top, then “Notes” followed by your folders. “Recently deleted” will always be at the bottom.

+1 for this, I tried sorting but… no luck.

Sep 2023 Sonoma Update!

Is it really true that Notes folders (still) cannot be automagically sorted alphabetically?
Does anyone have a workaround for what I believe to be a simple feature which thousands would welcome.

Weird coincidence.

I never wanted to sort my notes folders manually until today!

But I just went to do so … and couldn’t … then remembered this newly restarted thread.
