I just swapped my Apple Watch series 4 for a Black Ultra 2 – Now what?

After eyeing the Apple Watch Ultra since its release, I finally purchased an Apple Watch Ultra 2 Black with a black Milanese Loop. Yesterday, I picked it up and swapped it for my Series 4.

But I didn’t feel as thrilled as I thought I would. In practice, it’s just a larger (much larger) and faster version of the Series 4, with significantly better battery life. But then what…?

So, please give me some must-have apps or anything else that will make me feel like I’ve spent over $1,000 on something worthwhile…

The feel good factor of owing it is worth $1000.

Give it some time and if you don’t adjust to the size, return and get the much-cheaper Series 10!

I am using two Apple Watches:

  1. Apple Watch Ultra 1st Gen

  2. Apple Watch 10th Gen

Yes, I am one of those people who keeps the old watch when I buy a new one. Why? Well, I like it, and I want to be able to track health data without interruption in case it breaks down. Having a second watch is helpful. I wear one during the day and the other at night (please do not judge me).

When I wore the Series 10 Watch for the first time, I found myself thinking that it is a really nice experience: the display is comparable to the Ultra, while it is very comfortable to wear and the battery on the regular watches was always good enough to last the day anyway. And the Ultra’s battery was often not good enough to last me two days (workouts, listening to music) so that I have to charge both watches daily anyway.

Whenever I buy my next watch, I might not end up with the Ultra again. Not because it is bad (it is not!), but because the standard watch is good enough and very comfortable - and of course much cheaper. A killer app for which you absolutely have to have an Ultra… I don’t know any app that fits that category.

I use very few apps beyond the basics but it’s still a great watch outside the box. Health features are par excellence.

I keep them unless I find someone to pass them on two but I generally try to maintain a spare. Have had little need for an extra though especially since they charge quite fast.
