I made a macOS menubar app to send web articles to Kindle

send-to-kindle

I made a macOS menubar that takes an article, creates a clean ePub and lets you send it to your Kindle, as a formatted email, or as an export to your desktop.

I know there are browser extensions that do this, but I like the flexibility of having a native Mac app. Do you think this is something people would use if I released it as a utility?

Can it grab the url from the frontmost browser? (I’d use it; my app Tsundoku works like this)

Or do you have to paste it in? (too much friction, so I’d not use it)

I would absolutely use this.

I would find it very useful.

I would definitely find this useful. Is it something that you can use with the Send to Kindle app.

That’s a good idea! I don’t see why not.

Making progress! (You can also send to email/desktop.)

This is exactly the kind of small, well scoped utility I end up wanting constantly and never find. One thing I’d be curious about: how are you handling article extraction on messier sites, ones with paywalls, heavy ads, or content that loads after scroll? That’s usually where reader-mode style tools fall apart.

Thanks! I’m using the Readability library for article extraction, and it seems to work well.
