I need a USB-C hub recomendation

Can somebody recommend a USB-C hub (4 port in and out) - for MacBook pro M1?

example: Amazon.com

Belkin is a reputable brand. Keep in mind that USB-C is the connector and not the protocol, and this one only runs at USB 3.2 speeds. If you are intending this for video you will want a Thunderbolt 4 hub.

I have the Belkin. It works but I havent really tested it heavily.

Anker also has a USB-C hub too.

Something I’ve been caught out on myself. Can anyone recommend one of those?

All I can say is read the descriptions very carefully!

I use the Satechi 4-port USB-C hub.

But I would say be careful in general, depending on your use.

Most hubs do not have the bandwidth and full crossover as a true dock. If you are using a hub as a convenience dongle (like I do), then any brand is probably ok.

If you are going to connect high-bandwidh or important devices like external USB-C SSD or hard drives, Video capture cards (like El Gato Camlink 4K), video monitors, etc. then even if not using Thunderbolt and “just” USB-C, many of these simpler hubs do not deliver enough power and do not support full speed if multiple ports are in use at the same time.

Rant on- Avoid Belkin at any cost. Have always found their stuff to be problematic, buggy, and they have refused to issue updates or recalls for devices with known security problems (Wemo division).

Thanks everybody for the good comments.

I have not looked into updates or recalls but…

Actually I would like to report the exact opposite. I had an anker 7 port hub that actually was bad and the belkin 4 port hub was the only one I found to work the MacBook M1

I just got the belkin 4 post usb-c hub and so far - perfect.

these good
