An hour later: Oh, well…
Sounds like it’s a good time to check your backups.
There’ll be something in the iPadOS public beta that tempts me to install the iOS beta on my phone. I can feel it.
I can usually only withstand the temptation until about mid-July and then I crack.
@neonate Can you let us know if one can link Apple Notes together? This is something many of us have been hoping. We are glad you have taken the plunge!
That is indeed a feature listed on the iPadOS 17 page!
In case you’ve not seen it: iPadOS 17 Preview - Apple
If/when you can test it, please let us know how it works! This is far more exciting than the headset.
Edited: never mind, I just discovered that on Apple’s website, clicking on the “+” icon brings up this description:
“Quickly add links from one note to another. It’s a powerful way to connect research notes, reference a recipe, or even create wikis for your team.”
While your waiting might as well try out devonthink to go (they finally added this feature too).
At the very least I enjoy your forays into software and changing your workflows. It saves me time trying them!
I’ve certainly been around the block! But, notwithstanding my questions recently, my workflow has not changed much over the last six months. The Siren Call to change apps is at a whisper.
Don’t see the “+” icon in notes. This is how to add a link by right clicking within a note. Can also do this when selecting text and right clicking.
I was referring to the description on Apple’s page of the new feature.
No issues with iOS 17 so far - links within Notes seem pretty sweet…i may put my other devices all in…
Tvos – automations that use convert to shortcut are not working
I will definitely install iOS 17 (Beta 1) today. On a test iPhone…
(Need to know whether Apple broke something in our software)
In fact, I can’t even install it on my personal iPhone X… No longer supported
According to Apple, these are not the times for new apps… these are the times for new devices
I read somewhere that at least on iPadOS 17 the reminders app gets a column view for subtasks? Can someone of the brave that installed the beta confirm (and maybe post a screenshot )? thx in advance
MacRumors has an article on how to use the Notes app on iOS 17 to add links between notes:
I would love to install the betas, but I found out from painful experience a few years back that a bank I use does some kind of iOS version-checking when you open their app. It doesn’t work at all on betas - if I remember correctly it simply doesn’t open. I assume this is for security reasons, in case some kind of critical flaw is introduced as part of a beta, but it means I now sit looking longingly at betas through the summer. The longest wait…
Here you go, not sure exactly how it functions, this is what it looks like:
My experience with the initial Beta on my iPad M1 Pro 12.9, it is rock solid and everything works so far (from work MDM, to Plex, Audio bluetooth, overcast etc etc).
Thank you very much @SteveMac. This looks promising - though I agree I’m not sure how this works yet . Is the “test” at the top of the “others” column the same as the “test” item in the “I added a column” column (hence are all subtasks from “test”)?
Also I wonder what’s really new with “Sections” from the first screenshot - I mean we have sections/grouping for some time now … or might this be something similar to headings in Things 3?
