All this should be “set and forget” but that never seems to work out!
I got an email from a Backblaze bot that my backups stopped two weeks ago. After some investigation it turns out that my bzfileids.dat file had gotten too big. And that happens if you have been using their program a very long time (their words). For some reason they didn’t make it self-cleaning and it just grows without shrinking. And then I found out that 70GB was being taken in hidden files on each of our two iMacs and two MacBooks and the server (350 GB in all, plus probably backed up to Backblaze!) by a default enabled feature in Resilio Sync. By default, each Resilio Sync share saves a copy each file that gets modified, and saves them for a month. This happens on each system using that share. I have a share for Quicken. Since I open it, make entries, and then close it again many times a day , and it saves the information in a single file, I end up with hundreds of backups of about 150 MB each, on all my systems. I turned that feature off for that share on all of the systems! https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204754239-Using-Archive-for-file-versioning-and-restoring-deleted-files
