IOS 18.1.1 unstable?

This may just be anecdotal, but bear with me.

I had to switch my phone off twice on Wednesday once of an hour and a half and the other for half an hour (by choice, not by issues) so I wouldn’t be disturbed. This isn’t normal as the only time it’s normally “off” is when I reboot for software updates.

Since then I’ve had a lot of different problems. Firstly, Overcast lost it’s config after the switch off and had to restore it from the cloud, it also dumped some podcast downloads so they had to be redownloaded. Prism (a 3rd party Plex Music Player) also dumped all of it’s song downloads after the switch off.

Selecting homepods and airpods to play audio to has been patchy since then and Carplay has also been glitchy.

I’m on 18.1.1, so on the latest, no betas.

I don’t think that this was happening before the switch off, and may just be a confluence of different issues, but it all seems a little coincidental.

Is anyone else having 18.1.1 problems, or is Apple Intelligence just messing with me

This gets even stranger.

When I went back to download my music into Prism again, it queue’d it up and downloaded about 40GB of music but the phone ran out of space and when I looked Prism was using 160GB. This is not normal.

I think that while the OS was still recognising that the downloads were related to Prism, prism couldn’t see them somehow, but they were still there in the background. Bizarre.

Just a thought…could it be that the IOS update messed with something in Prism? Basically, maybe Prism needs to update their software. Not necessarily that IOS 18.1.1 is unstable.

That’s definitely possible.

It’s funny it only happened after I switched my phone off. I’ve been on 18.1.1 for a while before that with no problems.

While searching, I saw that macobserver.com has an article about issues with apps after updating to 18.1.1. They have steps to take. It may be basic but thought I would point you to it.

According to Apple, iOS 18 included 40 security patches, 18.1 had an additional 31, and 18.1.1 an additional 2.

I’d say there is a chance that one or more of them may be responsible for your problem.
